How to reach Padova

Padova is served by one main railway station, and it is connected to nearby airports (Venice, Treviso, Bologna, Verona) by shuttle and/or train: all buses (and trains) from outside the city converge to the railway station.

Once at the railway station, to reach the the downtown (and the school venue) there is a tram line (Line 1, ) with a stop just in front of the railways station; the stop closest to the school venue is "Ponti Romani 6". The downtown is within walking distance from the station (about 1.2 km).

By Plane

From Venice

The main (and suggested) air connection for Padova is through the Venice International Airport (VCE). From the airport there is a direct bus service to Padova railway station (BUSITALIA); alternatively, there is a bus to Venezia Mestre railway station (ATVO), where trains link to Padova main station.

For all the invited speakers arriving by plane we will be happy to arrange a shuttle transport.

From nearby airports

Treviso, Verona and Bologna airports offer plenty of international flights; from both Treviso (Treviso Airlink) and Verona (Verona Airlink) there is a dedicated shuttle bus toward the respective train stations, where trains link to Padova. From Bologna there is a monorail transportation which connects the airport terminal directly with the train station. Bologna-Padova is about 1h train.

By Train

Padova railway station is connected to the European railway system through the Thorl (Graz-Wien), Brenner (Innsbruck-Munich), Gotthard (Zurich), Simplon (Geneve) and Frejus (Lion) passes and tunnels. Connection from western Europe all passes through Milan main station, where a change is usually needed, even if there are direct connections, e.g. Geneve-Padova. Itinerary planning and tickets purchase are available from any European country railway company portal:

Italy: TRENITALIA

Switzerland: SBB

France: SNCF

Austria: OBB

By Car

Coming by car may be convenient if you are nearby, or you plan to extend your stay in the area. Due to traffic restriction in the downtown area, and general parking space scarcity, in such a case is strongly advised go to to one of the hotel highlighted as car-friendly in the accommodation page. Those hotels are still very close to the downtown area, the school venue, and have a parking lot. Furthermore, they are easy to reach from the highway exit "Padova Est".
