How to Reach Padova

Padova is one of the cultural and economic centres in the Northeast of Italy, in the Veneto region, 40 kilometres far from Venice. Because of traffic and parking issues, we recommend using the public transport. Depending on the accommodation of your choice, moving by foot is also an excellent option to enjoy the city.

Reaching Padova by TRAIN

Padova is both on the Venezia-Milano-Torino and on the Venezia-Roma train routes; many trains are available. You can check the times, prices and buy electronic tickets on the Trenitalia website (see also Italo website or The train line for other options).  Tickets can also be purchased at the ticket offices of railway stations: in this case please specify which train you are going to board when asking for a ticket. Ticket prices depend on the type of train. In some cases seat reservation is mandatory.  In absence of seat reservation, it is mandatory: to check-in online in the case of electronic tickets; to validate paper tickets before boarding the train, by using the machines located on the platforms and throughout the station.

Reaching Padova by PLANE

The nearest airport is the Marco Polo Airport in Venezia (Venice), 40 kilometres east of Padova; it is the third most important airport in Italy, and conveniently linked with all major European airports. Other airports near Padova are in Treviso, Verona and Bologna, but the transfer from one of these to Padova is more difficult than from Venezia.
Coming from overseas, look for a connecting flight reaching Venezia from Roma (Rome) or some other convenient European airport, like e.g. London Heathrow, Frankfurt am Main or Paris Charles De Gaulle. On the contrary, avoid flying to Milano (Milan): from Milano, you have a bus ride of about 1 hour after the customs in order to reach the railway station, and then a 2 or 3 hours ride by train to Padova.

From the Venezia airport you can choose:

  • Bus connections to Padova by BusItalia. Selecting "Veneto", you get access to various useful links. In particular, the timetable can be found at the Padua - Venice Airport link.
  • Alternatively, take ACTV line 15 bus or the ATVO MESTRE EXPRESS shuttle to Venezia Mestre railway station, then take a train to Padova (here is the Trenitalia website).
  • Shuttle Service Air Service: reservation via registration webpage or by e-mail. We strongly recommend to make your reservation at least 48 hours before your arrival/departure, indicating date, time and flight number, hotel address. Fare: about 44,00 Euro per person.
  • Shuttle Service  Landomas: reservation via website or by e-mail. Please note that the reservation must be made at least 24 hours before your arrival, indicating date, time and flight number. Fare: about 30 Euro per person to Padova since it is a collective service the cost can change according to the total number of people.
  • Shuttle service GoOpti: reservation via the website. Reservation must be made at least two days before the transfer date. Last-minute reservations may be available at a higher cost. Fares for shared transfer should stay within 35-50 Euro per person depending on time or booking and time and date of arrival. Private transfers are available and should cost around 100 Euro.
  • Taxi - There is also a Radiotaxi service (Tel. +39-041.595.2080) for a direct transfer from the airport to Padova, however, this is the most expensive solution.
