Description

Cosmic topology remains one of the last frontiers of modern cosmology. Recent theoretical developments, together with the rapidly growing volume and precision of cosmological data, now make it possible to probe the global shape of the Universe with renewed sensitivity. While current and future cosmic microwave background observations continue to provide powerful tests of topology, I will show that large-scale structure surveys offer an even more promising route.

In this talk, I will introduce the theoretical basis for cosmic topology searches and explain why three-dimensional tracers of structure can outperform two-dimensional CMB measurements. I will quantify the expected improvement from large-scale structure data, discuss the practical challenges involved in extracting topological signatures, and outline a pathway toward applying these methods to upcoming surveys.
