In this seminar I will briefly present the concepts behind “Open
Universe” (openuniverse.asi.it), an Initiative proposed at the United
Nations and currently actively carried out by a number of Countries.
As concrete examples of the scientific potential of Open Universe I
will describe several recent results on the connection between the
class of blazars, particularly those with a high-energy synchrotron
peak, and Ice-Cube high-energy neutrinos. On this subject, I will
review the multi-frequency and time-domain analysis results on
TXS0506+056, the first blazar reliably associated to several Ice-Cube
neutrinos, and describe a similar analysis carried out on a large
sample of Ice-Cube neutrino tracks, showing growing evidence for the
connection between high-energy peaked blazars and neutrinos.
