Description
In this talk I will describe novel string theory constructions involving branes and spindles, that I have discovered during the past year. Spindles are a simple example of bad orbifolds, on which various branes can be wrapped, preserving supersymmetry, in a way that generalises the well-known topological twist.  In this talk I will attempt at summarising the story so far and indicate a number of exciting research directions.
