Description
High-resolution, high-S/N spectroscopy of solar twins provides a powerful tool to explore a wide range of problems in astrophysics. In this seminar, I will discuss how studying these objects —stars with temperature, luminosity, and metal content closely matching our Sun— offers critical insights into the formation and evolution of planets, addresses open questions in stellar astrophysics such as internal mixing processes and the rotational evolution of the Sun, and provides key constraints for Galactic archaeology, including the detection of possible subpopulations in the Galactic thin disk.
