 py and witha survey of sources of irreversible behavior.\nSubsequently\, t
 he Second Law of thermodynamics\, in the forms given toit by Clausius and 
 Carnot\, is derived from quantum statistical mechanics.\nIn a third part\,
  a derivation of Brownian motion of a quantum particleinteracting with a q
 uantum-mechanical heat bath is sketched. This isfollowed by an outline of 
 a theory of Hamiltonian Friction.\nIn what may be the most important part 
 of the lecture\, the fundamentalarrow of time inherent in Quantum Mechanic
