Description

How do we study the building blocks of life when they are too small to
see and too complex to measure? The answer lies in the laws of
physics. By treating atoms as physical entities governed by quantum
mechanics, we can use supercomputers to simulate the behavior of
matter at the most fundamental level. In this seminar, we will take a
quantum journey through the world of materials science applied to
biology. We will explore how we can "film" the motion of proteins,
nature's nanomachines, to understand how they function and why,
sometimes, they fail.

This talk is designed as an accessible invitation to show the power of
computational physics, demonstrating how virtual experiments are
becoming the key to solving the biophysical and medical challenges of
the 21 st century.
