Description

We study the early universe dynamics and gravitational wave signatures of cosmic superstrings in the presence of dynamical moduli. Field displacements in moduli space result in exotic equations of state and variations of the tension of the strings. After a discussion of the effect of varying tension in the worldsheet dynamics, we study the properties of cosmic superstring networks in these cosmologies. In the simplest example of the Large Volume Scenario of string compactifications, PTA and BBN constraints result in a prediction for a tilt in the gravitational wave spectrum in the LISA band. In other scenarios, the effect of varying tension results in a high-frequency spectral index which cannot occur for constant tension. We systematically classify and bound the resulting spectral indices.
