Description

Magnetic polymers are soft composite systems in which polymer conformations and magnetic degrees of freedom are intrinsically coupled. Their equilibrium properties emerge from the competition between entropy and magnetic interactions, making them an ideal playground for concepts from statistical physics.
In this talk, I will present simple models and simulation techniques used to study magnetic polymers, and show how these ideas connect to applications in smart materials and to emerging models of chromatin folding.
