 ciences\nDate: June 26th\, 2025\, 3 p.m.\nWhere: Aula Rostagni \nAbstract
: After the discovery of Higgs\, the Standard Model (SM) is basically comp
leted and particle physics is now at a turning point. On the one hand\, SM
is just an effective theory at current energy scale with a number of ques
tions not yet answered. On the other hand\, experimental evidence beyond t
he SM have been observed. It is commonly believed that a further understan
ding of physics at higher energies or deeper levels is needed\, to be guid
ed by more experimental discoveries. For such a purpose\, Higgs and Neutri
nos are the two main portals. I will describe our efforts along these two
directions. One is based on the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory
(JUNO) which will start the data taking soon. Another one is the Circular
Electron-Positron Collider (CEPC) with a circumference of 100km. After 12
years efforts\, CEPC is almost ready for construction. I will describe its
design\, R&D and the construction planning.\nYifang Wang is a Researcher
at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of Chinese academy of Scien
ces. He obtained his Ph. D. at the University of Florence in Italy\, and s
ubsequently worked at MIT and Stanford University. At IHEP\, Yifang Wang l
ed the design\, construction and science effort of the BESIII experiment a
t the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider for tau-charm physics. He initiat
ed and led the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment which observed a new t
ype of neutrino oscillation denoted by θ13 . He led the design and constr
uction of the JUNO neutrino experiment\, and proposed the Circular Electro
n-Positron Collider (CEPC) as a Higgs Factory.  He is a recipient of the
 Breakthrough Prize\, Panofsky Prize\, EPS-HEP prize\, Nikkei Asia Prize\,
Pontecorvo Prize\, Future Science Prize and the 1st grade National Natural
Science Award of China. He is a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences\, a
fellow of the Third World Academy of Sciences\, a foreign member of the N
ational Academy of Sciences of the US\, the American Arts and Sciences\, t
he Royal Society and the Russian Academy of Sciences.\nyoutube: https://w
