Description
Over the past decades Network Science and Complexity Theory have made enormous progress. Apart from advances in applications, the study of complexity itself, which has long been a kingdom of islands, has been connected by bridges that link different topics by connecting mathematical frameworks. Along with mathematical techniques, also the philosophy of complexity has evolved to the point where it offers considerable new perspectives.  As a result the study of networks and complexity has become a vibrant interdisciplinary field. However, in contrast to many other fields it still lacks a central theory. In this talk I argue that such a theory of complexity may now be within reach.
