Description

Spectroscopy is a powerful tool for understanding the origins of stars, galaxies, and the universe. By studying the light from stars, we can reveal their chemical compositions, motions, and ages. I will here explore how spectroscopic data are used to map the Milky Way, to understand its dynamics and development, as well as identifying important clues about its formation. The focus will be on how modern instruments and international collaborations, such as Gaia, SDSS, and 4MOST are helping to revolutionize Milky Way research.
